In Pursuit of Perfection
Posted on July 3rd, 2008 in Uncategorized |

Sorry for the delay in posting, but work and family has left me with little time for blogging.
As some of you may or may not know I have created a group called the “St Gregory the Great Society” for Catholics in Johnson County KS to organize and request a traditional Mass for the Johnson County Area in accordance with article V of Summorum Pontificum, while we have the ICRSS and the FSSP in the area neither are in Johnson County. The Facebook group can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=19037047591 and we will have a web site up soon.
Today I made a formal request to use the chapel pictured above, as all in the group had thought that it was the perfct place in the area to hold the mass. Unfortunately we were denied. The meeting lasted less than two minutes I first inquired what would it take to use the chapel, he seemed open and willing but once the Pastor was aware that our group promoted the Ancient Mass, the Pastor felt inclined to tell me about his Love for Vatican II, his hatred of the Latin Language, he stated that Latin has no place in the Mass that Vatican II was the best thing for the church, that the Latin mass was divisive and he would NEVER allow any Latin mass at any of his parish facilities. I knew none of my arguments or discussions would change his mind, I thanked him for his time and left.
I am a bit downhearted after that encounter as I had only read about priests who respond this way and never actually encountered them one on one. I suspect this will be a common response as I go forward in our pursuit of bringing the Traditional Mass to Johnson County. I will keep you readers posted and I hope to start blogging more frequently from here on out.

What a real bummer.
Sorry to hear that. I too have gotten similar responses here locally in the Wichita Diocese. Don’t let it get you down. Just remember to smile. Thank them and bless them. That is the formula… If you want to do more remember to shake the dust off your feet as you leave… It is these people that we are hear to save. Keep that in mind. It is not only a daunting task but a war with the evil one himself… You have just been to the front lines Private. Reload and soldier on…

My husband and I have been driving from Olathe to Kansas City (23 miles one way) to get to the Latin Mass every Sunday for nearly 10 years. We are getting older and would sure love something closer. Too bad there is anti-Latin Mass element out there, but take heart. I came from an anti-Catholic househould and have been a convert from about the time Latin was taken away. Now I love the Latin Mass. I do believe the light of Christ is the brightest there.
I’m just your regular Novus Ordo guy, but one who believes that the Gregorian Rite, as Card. Hoyos is now refering to, should be made available everywhere. That includes JoCo. I think a JoCo Greg.Rite Mass would be great and if it was early morning that would be even better. Keep praying it will be back in “the county” in time.
Is that the Holy Trinity Chapel? I’m thinking that might be a good spot. Is Msgr willing to do it anywhere other than a chapel and won’t he need Naumann’s permission since he’s from the KCMO side of the line. I’m a strong believer in obidence first.
