Is it wrong to be excited to give up something for...
Sorry for the lack of posts lately, things have been busy, focusing on other “Real Life” issues - darn those things…. Anyway - I think I know what I am going to be giving up for Lent - my Smartphone…. I have been somewhat of a cell phone addict since about the age of 16 - always wanting something latest and greatest, and I am always found punching away at that...

On the feast of St. Blaise....
As a kid, I wanted to be a priest, for the longest time whenever anyone asked that was my response. I would “play mass” and I even have vivid memories of blessing peoples throats with the St. Blaise prayer as a kid. Well as Gods will would have it I am a different kind of father than what my child self envisioned. The photo above is of my oldest child, Blaize - Named from St....

A First time for everything...
Well this evening the search for a parish to call home continued. I have posted about this before, and the disappointment we have when we see liturgical abuse, and other various deficiencies found in the most of the local parishes. Tonight we decided to try St. Matthew’s Parish in Glendale Heights. Normally we attend the Extraordinary Form, but since my sister from Kansas City is...

Prayer, Fasting, Abstaining.... Mortification
Everyday when I drive home I listen to the Catholic Radio ( 950 / 930 AM ). In Kansas City we did not have Relevant Radio, but we did have EWTN Radio (1090 AM). I really enjoy listening to Catholic radio and even had Sirius for unintrrupted EWTN and also The Catholic Channel. I was a regular caller in on “The Catholic Guy” program - I even won a Popener.. but I digress Usually on...

The Meaning of life...
Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole strength. And these words which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart: And thou shalt tell them to thy children, and thou shalt meditate upon them sitting in thy house, and walking on thy journey, sleeping and rising. And thou shalt bind them...

Officium Divinum
I have been trying to pray the Liturgy of the Hours when I can. Most days I end up just praying Night Prayer and reading the office of Readings. I mostly use the Ordinary Form “Liturgy Of the Hours” as I was gifted the complete 4 Volume set - In leather no less! I really enjoy the Sermons from Saints and prayers and poems. I also was gifted the Angelus Press Officium Divinum -...

On Jan. 1 2012, the erection of an official Ordinariate in North America for Catholics from Anglican backgrounds will take place and in will come many of our separated brethren, thanks in no short order to Anglicanorum Coetibus. I am blessed to have assisted Fr. Ernie with the Anglican Use in Kansas City - I keep the St. Therese community in my prayers as I am sure they are continuing...

Still searching for a place to call home...
Since moving to the Chicago area in August - and roughly - right after that time returning to the faith, we have been searching for a place to call our home “parish”. I put parish in quotes as the church has deemed based on geographical location as to where we should attend Mass and receive the sacraments. As you can see from my previous posts HERE - my soul is not nourished at such...

Lovely Lady dressed in blue teach me how to pray God was just your little Boy tell me what to say! Did you lift Him up, sometimes gently on your knee? Did you sing to Him the way mother does to me? Do you really think He cares if I tell him things - Little things that happen? and do Angel’s Wings make a noise? Can He hear me if I speak low? Does He understand me now? ...

From One Eucharistic Prayer to Many: How it... →
Whether speaking of structure or of theology, the main argument seems to be that the Roman canon is untidy. In the course of its development it spread out from the original core text, the way an old country house develops from the original building: a wing is added on here, an extra story is built there, a door is cut in the wall where a window used to be, other windows are walled up and new...

Baptism of our Fourth Child
Sorry for the delay in posting - but it was Thanksgiving weekend and we traveled back to Kansas City to see our family that we have not really seen since the end of July. While we were with Family we took the opportunity to have baby Lucia baptized at our old Parish of Old St. Patrick’s In Kansas City MO. So without further adieu here are photos and videos of the Ceremony - and I might...

How to Baptize in case of Miscarriage →
On my old web/blog server I had hosted a PDF File of How to Baptize in case of Miscarriage. I had posted this in the catholic.com forums and I still receive hits to the site from that post looking for the files. Since the blog was deleted and now renewed I am posting a Public Link to Google Docs where the file currently lives. I hope it may provide someone with some information that they...

Photos: Baptism of our Third Born
This is the continuation of the Baptism photos of my Children. A bit of background on this: My son - Ambrose Benedict - Was born at home, all natural home birth, but when he arrived he wasn’t breathing and was ill. I immediately baptized him with Holy Water I had near by - I had prepared it ahead of time in case something like this happened. When I proceeded to do this, it kinda freaked...
