On Changed Prayers, Flip Flops, Glass “Ciborium”, 70’s Music, and the usual suspects…

Its becoming more and more clear that on Sunday we are going to have to stick to our 25min. drive to Naperville to pray at the Extraordinary Form at the FSSP Joliet Latin Mass Community For those Sundays when we are not able to make it out there (lack of gas money / distance / weather etc. ), and because we still need to find a parish to register to proceed with First Communion classes for our second son, I am still searching for a Parish a bit closer that perhaps celebrated the Ordinary form as I discovered in California of all places at San Secondo d’Asti - I really got lucky finding that parish. Alas it seems these are the more common types of liturgies around the Chicago Suburb area. Female and Male Altar Servers in Flip Flops and shorts, the Priest changing the words to the Mass, consecrating in Glass containers, banal/out played 70’s “hymns” - the “lets wonder the church and give the sign of peace” - immodest dress…and just what IS the tabernacle doing behind the wooden jail? All yours to be had in this video from a local nearby parish:

Like most of the parishes in the US it seems they still haven’t gotten around to reading Redemptionis Sacramentum…. Besides all the above mentioned problems, feel free to post your favorite offense in the comments. BOUNUS: If you’re feeling very masochistic you can check out a video of their 9/11 Interfaith Prayer service held in the sanctuary : http://vimeo.com/29128599 I’m still searching… for a parish to call home…
