MO Must Take Inmates to Abortion Clinics

By JIM SALTER Associated Press Writer
ST. LOUIS - The state of Missouri must provide transportation to abortion clinics for inmates who want to undergo the procedure, a federal appeals panel ruled Tuesday.

In 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the state had to allow a specific inmate, listed as Jane Roe, to have an abortion after the state tried to end the practice of driving prisoners to clinics for elective abortions.

The American Civil Liberties Union then sought a federal ruling making the high court’s decision a class-action on behalf of all imprisoned pregnant women in the state.

U.S. District Judge Dean Whipple ruled in 2006 that the state must allow pregnant inmates to have abortions and transport them to facilities that perform the procedure. Tuesday’s decision by the three-judge panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the lower court ruling.

“The court recognized that the right to elect to have an abortion survives incarceration,” said Tony Rothert, legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s St. Louis office. “This was about providing women with the opportunity to exercise their choice even though they were incarcerated.”

It wasn’t clear whether the state would appeal. A spokesman for Attorney General Jay Nixon said the decision was still being reviewed with the Corrections Department.

Gov. Matt Blunt called the ruling disappointing and noted that Missouri law prohibits the use of state tax money to pay for abortions.

“Over the last three years, we have made positive changes in Missouri and enacted laws that reflect our profound respect for the inherent dignity of each and every life,” Blunt said. “I am hopeful and prayerful that we can further protect life by enhancing our laws to defend the dignity of human life.”

The ruling came on the 35th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, which established a nationwide right to abortion.

At a hearing in September, attorneys for the state argued security concerns and the state’s limited resources outweighed a female offender’s right to an abortion. Inmates are denied certain freedoms, including “the right to procreate, vote and travel,” Assistant Attorney General Michael Pritchett told the panel at the time.

But the ACLU said the state exaggerated its security concerns and has shown an ability to safely transport inmates to an abortion clinic in St. Louis despite the presence of protesters.

Novena of Reparation for Roe vs. Wade, January 14-22

Posted on January 13th, 2008 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

From the Priests for Life website :

The Catholic bishops of the United States have designated January 22 as a special day of prayer and penance in reparation for the massive killing that has resulted from the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision (handed down January 22, 1973) which permitted abortion throughout pregnancy.

Therefore, we at Priests for Life invite you to prepare spiritually for that day by joining a Novena that starts on Monday, January 14 and concludes on the 22nd. We invite you to say the prayer below each of those days, and to let us know through this form that you have committed to say it.

Prayer of Reparation

God and Father of Life,
You have created every human person,
And have opened the way for each to have eternal life.

We live in the shadow of death.
Tens of millions of your children have been killed
Thanks to the Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

Father, have mercy on us.
Heal our land
And accept our offering of prayer and penance.
In your love for us,
Turn back the scourge of abortion.

May each of us exult in hearts full of hope
And hands full of mercy
And work together to build a culture of life.

We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

If you do pray the novena please go to the Priests for life website and let them know that you will be praying it with them, they have a short form to fill out.

God bless you

As Most of you know, the Holy Father just left Brazil, after meeting with anyone thats a “Someone” down there, Also as most of you know the Holy Father had once again stressed the church’s teachings on Abortion and Contraception.

What I don’t understand is how two faced these “Somebodys” are, how the president could welcome our Pope with open arms then turn around and provide birth control at $0.20 a pill. If you are going to provide such an atrocity for women such as birth control why not be upfront to the pope about it, why smile and but the facade on of the country being in union with Rome.

Most recently Brazil’s famous Model - Gisele Had a few Choice Words for our pontiff and those who follow him SOURCE:

SAO PAULO (Reuters) - Supermodel Gisele Bundchen stepped into the debate over birth control and sexual behavior in Brazil on Tuesday, saying Church opposition to condom use was ridiculous and women should have the right to choose on abortion.

Gisele is idolized by many young women in Brazil, the world’s largest Roman Catholic country, where debate over sexual issues has intensified around a visit by
Pope Benedict last month.

The Pope stressed the Church’s firm opposition to abortion and contraception and railed against sex outside of marriage.

The Brazilian beauty, one of the world’s top models, told Folha de S.Paulo newspaper in an interview that when the Church made its laws centuries ago, women were expected to be virgins.

“Today no one is a virgin when they get married … show me someone who’s a virgin!” she said.

Asked about abortion, she said a woman should have the right to choose what is best for her.

“If she thinks she doesn’t have the money or the emotional condition to raise a child, why should she give birth?”

Gisele, who had just arrived from New York to take part in Rio de Janeiro’s Fashion Week, also defended condom use.

“It’s ridiculous to ban contraceptives — you only have to think of the diseases that are transmitted without them. I think it should be compulsory to use a contraceptive.”

The Brazilian government has clashed with the church over anti-
AIDS programs in which it distributes millions of free condoms and Health Minister Jose Temporao has called for a national referendum on abortion.

Other Brazilian celebrities have fallen foul of the
Vatican over sex issues. Singer Daniela Mercury was banned from performing at a Vatican Christmas concert in 2005 because she took part in a campaign promoting condom use to prevent AIDS.

She denied rumors she was pregnant.

“Of course I want to have a family in the future. But not at this moment.”

I think Gisele proved why shes a Model and not in lawmaking, the fact of the matter is that maybe no one is a virgin when they get married, but thats a problem, why condone pre-martial sex and make it seem acceptable, especially with all of these awful diseases around, why not use your public voice to speak about the honor of virginity, the glory of saving yourself for marriage, the great joy of purity and chastity. Its amazing that this woman who is a role model to thousands of young girls in Brazil and wants to push upon them this culture of death.

Gisele, if she does not have money or does not want children then why not offer the only method that is 100% effective - abstinence- then you will not transmit disease and you will not have unwanted children.

Fact of the matter is Gisele I can show you a virgin, the Virgin Mary, who took the greatest stride to decrease herself so that God may increase, if more women took their cues from her instead of you, imagine where we would be.

In case you have not heard GOOGLE (whom I’m sure most are familiar with) has introduced street level view’s of a limited amount of cities-San Francisco Bay area, New York, Las Vegas, Denver and Miami- now I admit that when using the street level view it emits an creepy feeling for sure, but it seems there are bigger problems with this technology- such as allowing people to know what an abortion clinic is really all about.

Per this AP article an abortion clinic in Miami is a little upset with Google, per the article:

Eileen Diamond is hoping she can persuade Google to replace its current picture of a Miami street corner where protesters gather once a week to protest the abortions performed at A Choice For Women. The picture, still available on Google’s maps Friday afternoon, includes a cluster of protesters standing outside the clinic, an image that clinic administrator Diamond worries will scare away potential patients or perhaps attract trouble makers to the facility.

“It’s sort of disturbing because it’s certainly not the kind of message we want to be sending out,” said Diamond. “It’s already very painful for our patients to come in. We want them to feel safe and protected.”

So Ms. Diamond, you are worried about the “Image” of an baby murder mill? Im not sure even with enough sugar cane that you could candy coat an abortion mill.
If this is the kind of message that you do not want to be sending out then only one action will change that message, stop performing abortions! Yes it is painful for women to come into a place to commit legal murder, but there is no possible way for anyone to feel “Safe and protected” in an abortion clinic, most of all the innocent life of the child in the same room.

You don’t like the feeling Ms.Diamond of your nice comfortable abortion office being violated you want to feel safe and secure, maybe that same safe and secure feeling of being inside the womb, the most safe and secure place on earth, until businesses like yours came around.

I understand your point of view Ms. Diamond, you are the proprietor of an establishment thats #1 business is murdering babies, and any negative connotations of such you wish to be swept under the rug- bad for business, at what point Ms. Diamond, Can I call a spade a spade?

Here is the Image (I took a screen shot for fear of Google Removing the Image):

Baby found in freezer; Pa. woman charged

Baby found in freezer; Pa. woman charged:
“By JOE MANDAK - Associated Press Writer

PITTSBURGH –
A woman was charged with abuse of a corpse after police found the remains of a baby in her freezer.

Police charged Christine Hutchinson, 22, of Pittsburgh, after interviewing her Thursday evening, several hours after the remains were found in her apartment.

Officers got a tip from someone who knew Hutchinson that there was ‘possibly a baby that was dead and was in a freezer in an apartment in Bloomfield,’ a working-class neighborhood several miles east of downtown, Pittsburgh police Cmdr. Thomas Stangrecki said.

Detectives found what initially appeared to be a late-term fetus in a brown bag in the freezer, police said, though it wasn’t immediately clear whether the remains resulted from a miscarriage, late-term abortion or a death shortly after birth.

But later, Lt. Daniel Herrmann said the abuse of a corpse charge applies only to human beings. Under the law, he said, a fetus is not considered a human being.

An autopsy was scheduled for Friday. Police said that they did not believe the death was recent but gave no further details.

Police also questioned the woman’s ex-boyfriend but said they do not believe he was the father. He was not charged.

Hutchinson was in custody awaiting arraignment late Thursday”

This sad story poses a question for me, Why was it so hard to determine if this baby was ” from a Miscarriage, late-term abortion or death shortly after birth”

its amazing that if this baby had just been aborted that this mother would not be in jail right now, but instead she kept the baby in the freezer for some unknown reason, we can all speculate as to why.
If this baby was found to have died after birth then the mother could be charged with a crime,

Only with Satan can one not explicitly call EVIL a EVIL and LIFE a LIFE

how can you differentiate, this baby was found dead in a Freezer, No matter how it got there it was WRONG and I hope whomever is responsible is Convicted for harming LIFE, Period.

My Take…

First off, I would like to Thank WolfTracker and Dusty for their coverage of the “PlannedParenthood” yearly gala, with guest of honor the governor of Kansas, Kathleen”Cafeteria” Sebelius. I have been sharing their coverage with many at my work as well as with email, the pictures and information has been great thanks!

I listen to a “Mother Angelica Classics” The other night on the EWTN podcast’s ( if you have never checked out their podcast’s I highly recommend them) she was speaking of natural disasters, tornados, floods, and all the other calamities of sorts. We always deserve what God gives us, the good and the bad, now I’m not saying Greensberg Kansas was the cesspool of the nation, but one must take note of Kansas’ affinity for these twisters in relation to the amount of babies that are murdered in this state each year. Further more we have a public figure claiming to be a member of the Holy Catholic church but refusing to help her brothers and sisters in Christ to protect the most innocent of life.

Per her statements in 1989 she has clearly made personal decision to not follow the churches teachings.

If you couple this with the pope’s most recent comment to Catholic leaders who support the use of abortion and contraception, that they have excommunicated themselfs by support such evils

I pray that our priests recognize the offenders and refuse communion to these “Leaders”, I often wonder sometimes if a “Most Wanted” Poster is needed in our parish’s of pictures of the Vocal “Catholics” who openly support abortion and contraception to increase awareness of this.
I can not imagine any priest in the Topeka area willing to give “Cafeteria” Sebelius the Eucharist after all the evidence proving her support for the murder of the unborn.

My Conscience is clean…..

Pope Steadfast in Abortion Opposition

By VICTOR L. SIMPSON Associated Press Writer
SAO PAULO, Brazil - Pope Benedict XVI began his first papal trip to Latin America stressing church opposition to abortion Wednesday, suggesting that Catholic politicians in Mexico had excommunicated themselves by legalizing abortion in that nation’s capital.

Benedict, who will inaugurate an important regional bishops’ conference during his trip, also spoke strongly against abortion during his first speech in Brazil. Speaking in Portuguese, he said he’s certain that the bishops will reinforce “the promotion of respect for life from the moment of conception until natural death as an integral requirement of human nature.”

Thousands of faithful waited in the cold rain for a glimpse of Benedict, then chanted “Bento, Bento” and waved flags of different South American nations as he blessed them at the monastery where he is staying.

The Vatican says Benedict will confront major challenges during his visit, such as the church’s declining influence in Brazil, the rise of evangelism, and efforts to expand access to abortions in the region.

Catholic officials have been debating for some time whether politicians who approve abortion legislation as well as doctors and nurses who take part in the procedure subject themselves to automatic excommunication under church law.

The pope was asked where he stands on the issue during the flight to Brazil, in his first full-fledged news conference since becoming pontiff in 2005.

“Do you agree with the excommunications given to legislators in Mexico City on the question?” a reporter asked.

“Yes,” Benedict replied. “The excommunication was not something arbitrary. It is part of the (canon law) code. It is based simply on the principle that the killing of an innocent human child is incompatible with going in Communion with the body of Christ. Thus, they (the bishops) didn’t do anything new or anything surprising. Or arbitrary.”

Church officials later said the pope might have inferred from the question that the Mexican bishops had issued a formal declaration of excommunication for the legislators, something Mexican Cardinal Norberto Rivera has said he has no intention of doing.

Benedict’s spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said the pope was not setting a new policy and did not intend to formally excommunicate anyone - a rare process under church law that is separate from the doctrine of self-excommunication.

“Since excommunication hasn’t been declared by the Mexican bishops, the pope has no intention himself of declaring it,” Lombardi said in a statement approved by the pope.

But Lombardi added that politicians who vote in favor of abortion should not receive the sacrament of Holy Communion. “Legislative action in favor of abortion is incompatible with participation in the Eucharist. … Politicians exclude themselves from Communion,” he said.

Pressed again to say whether the lawmakers had been excommunicated, Lombardi reiterated: “No, they exclude themselves from Communion.”

Excommunication is the severest penalty the Roman Catholic Church can impose on its members. When someone is excommunicated “his status before the church is that of a stranger,” the New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia says. In practical terms, that means the excommunicated person is forbidden from receiving the sacraments and participating in public worship.

Church teaching says anyone who has an abortion is automatically excommunicated. “Being a conspiring or necessary accomplice” to an abortion also means excommunication under church law.

The Mexican politicians who supported the measure shrugged off Benedict’s comments Wednesday. “I’m Catholic and I’m going to continue being Catholic even if the church excommunicates me,” said leftist Mexico City lawmaker Leticia Quezada. “My conscience is clean.”

On the plane from Rome, Benedict said the exodus of Catholics for evangelical Protestant churches in Latin America was “our biggest worry.”

But he said that the spread of Protestantism shows a “thirst for God” in the region and that he intends to lay down a strategy to answer that call when he meets with bishops from throughout Latin America in a once-a-decade meeting in the shrine city of Aparecida near Sao Paulo.

“We have to become more dynamic,” he said. Evangelical Protestant churches have attracted millions of Latin American Catholics in recent years.

The Vatican also has promised that Benedict will deliver a tough message on poverty and crime during his five-day visit to Brazil - the world’s most populous Roman Catholic country.

Benedict’s predecessor, John Paul II, visited Mexico and addressed Latin American bishops just three months after assuming the papacy. Benedict has waited two years for his first trip to a region with nearly half the world’s 1.1 billion Catholics. But he denied being “Eurocentric” or less concerned about poverty in the developing world than his predecessors.

“I love Latin America. I have traveled there a lot,” he told reporters, adding that he is happy the time had come for the trip after focusing on more urgent problems in the Middle East and Africa.

Benedict, who visited Brazil as then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger in 1990, will celebrate several open-air Masses, including a canonization ceremony for Brazil’s first native-born saint, and visit a church-run drug and alcohol rehabilitation center.

Marcelo Zapata, 19, flew from Chile in hopes of glimpsing the pontiff. “The pope is the representative of Christ on Earth and I’m emotional about meeting him,” he said. “I never met any other pope and this may be the only time he’ll come to Latin America because he’s already 80 years old.”

Ivany Yazbek, 49, managed to touch the hand of John Paul II when he visited Brazil in 1980. “I don’t know if this pope will be as charismatic as the other pope, but we’ll find out,” Yazbek said.

Shivering in the cold, Edmundo Barbosa, a 32-year-old salesman, said, “I just want to see what he looks like, and if I could talk to him I’d ask for peace.”
———————————————————————–
“I’m Catholic and I’m going to continue being Catholic even if the church excommunicates me,” said leftist Mexico City lawmaker Leticia Quezada. “My conscience is clean.”

I’d Like to focus on this for a second, I believe Leticia is misinformed on the teachings of the Catholic church. First the church did not excommunicate her, she removed herself from communion with the church, secondly if you remove yourself from communion with the church then you are not Catholic. I find it interesting that even with the Holy Father making it crystal clear that these lawmakers are NOT to receive communion that she would still “continue being Catholic”. I find it sad that anyone that cannot fully understand the Pope’s statement is making laws in ANY country. One would think that lawmakers would be able to understand such crystal clear statements by the leaders of the Catholic Church.

On the plane from Rome, Benedict said the exodus of Catholics for evangelical Protestant churches in Latin America was “our biggest worry.”…Evangelical Protestant churches have attracted millions of Latin American Catholics in recent years….

This second thing is a topic that is related to what Traditional Catholic Mom recently touched on, also Rome of the West did a nice post on the pentecostal movement. Latino’s have had the stereotype of being Roman Catholic for ages, while I do not think this will be going away you can see a growing trend. This seems that the people of the Americas have strong devotion to God while they are missing the fullness of the Body of Christ. It would not be so outrageous to think that protestant missions are the only ones getting to this part of the world. Something is obviously lacking in keeping people faithful.
