Prayers at the Foot of the Altar / Confiteor

Posted on October 5th, 2008 in Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

Missa Cantata Lawrence KS

“The Celebrant longs to ascend to the altar of God, there to perform his holy office and to draw near to the Lord God, even to union with Him in the Eucharist.  He confides himself to the mercy of God, source of light, salvation, and peace, Who imparts to us unalterable youth of soul and blissful immortality.”

“The Confiteor creates an interior silence from the beginning of the Mass, as Priest and faithful turn away from their temporal concerns to face the reality of Calvary, for which their sins are responsible. It is the first expression of that Humility which will accompany us throughout the Sacrifice of the Mass.”

Missa Cantata Lawrence KS

“Our Bowing down to confess is the first act of true courage of every man who recognizes his sins. By refusing sin, he declares his dignity as a creature able to recognize spiritual beauty and embrace God”

“The Confietor is not meant to paralyze us with sadness or even shame; we do not confess our sins to remain guilty. It is a plea for reconciliation and forgiveness; iit is as a child full of repentance who goes to embrace his Father. “I confess to God, for Whom I was made, and to Whom I desire to return.”

Maine’s Oldest church marks bicentennial

Posted on July 10th, 2008 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I stumbled upon this gem of an article it is Short So I will post in its entirety-

NEWCASTLE, Maine—A Roman Catholic church that touts itself as the oldest in New England is preparing for a bicentennial celebration in Maine.

St. Patrick Catholic Church will hold activities this weekend to mark the completion of its first church building in 1808. Festivities begin Saturday with a ringing of the church bell, one of the last church bells cast by Paul Revere before his death.

Bishop Richard Malone will celebrate Mass in the modern $2 million building completed in 2004 and there will be a Latin Mass in the original building, which still stands. The original small brick church sits on a hill and overlooks the Damariscotta River.

Did you Catch it?
Did you See!??!

I quote again…

…and there will be a Latin Mass in the original building, which still stands..

The Parish built in 1808 will have a Bicentennial mass in the form that the first mass celebrated there took place. AMAZING DEO GRATIAS!!!!!

Liturgical Abuse

Posted on August 27th, 2007 in Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

This past weekend I have Prayed at three Holy Mass’ 2 of the three were “Ordinary” and One was “Extraordinary”.

I regret to inform you that The two “Ordinary” were Full of abuses that I feel are way to common place in this day and age.

Some things I noticed this weekend at Ordinary Mass-

  • Guitar (Electric and Acoustic) Played for all “Hymns”
  • “Hymns” were composed by the Ex-Jesuit Dan Schutte whom has left the Priesthood for the Gay Lifestyle were sung throughout both Ordinary Mass
  • While The Dress of the parishioners attending the Mass was very immodest while the dress is not an Liturgical Abuse per Se.. I would say that it reflects the law of lex orandi, lex credendi
  • “Extraordinary Ministers” Entering the Sanctuary, Opening the Tabernacle and waiting behind the priest before the priest receives communion
  • “Extraordinary Ministers” Grabbing and Gathering the Consecrated host’s after communion, scraping the crumbs of the Blessed Sacrament as the priest Drinks the ablutions after communion without gathering the spare particles.. the Priest then stood aside to watch the ministers finish Grabbing at the hosts and place them in the Tabernacle
  • The Priest asked for Applause for the Guitar “Choir” and for the lector, Servers, and Extraordinary Ministers.
  • Random Applause after the priest processed out, for the end of the last “Hymn”
  • No Homily was given at one ordinary mass.. instead a Video was played on the pornography initiative that the diocese Started MONTHS ago.. there was no follow up discussion or talk after the Priest.
  • an “Children’s Liturgy of the word” took place during this anti-pornography video when the children returned they had in hand the coloring pages that they were doing during this time

All of this was seen of the course of this past Saturday and Sunday at two Catholic “Community’s” in the Johnson County Area one of which brings in over $40,000 in monies per the 10+ page Bulletin with 3 Full pages of Advertisements. (This Community needs Teachers for their “School of Religion” Classes I have seriously given thought to Helping them out)

So why Do I bring this up… its simple …. I feel compelled to do something about it…but I’m not sure what… So dear readers I ask you how can I help change the tide in these parish’s that are so geographically close to my home. I look for your suggestions in the comment box

Please Help Me.

ICRSS Ordination St Louis MO Part 2

I present to you

The continuation of the Ordination

Part 2 the final part to this wonderful liturgy

Eat Jesus Again for the First time

While attending the mass at Conception Mo. (See the previous post) the Archpriest of the ceremony stood at the ambo and gave a short speech. He wanted to emphasize the real presence of our Lord in communion, he wanted to remind people that it was only 1-Catholics, 2-that had observed the Eucharistic Fast, 3-and were living without MORTAL sin- as we are all absolved from venial sin during the mass- were allowed to come forth and receive communion,

To those that met the requirements set forth by that Church He said come forward and get the Most Holy Communion you have ever received come Kneel down, the priest will bless you with the Blessed Sacrament and then you must receive on your tongue, he said dont reply anything, just realize what you received and meditate on the fact that you received Jesus Christ, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity!

So I have been thinking, why do so many Catholics today either a) Not Believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, or b) are totally ignorant of this fact - even in all Novus Ordo parish’s when you go to receive Jesus, you are told, and in a way almost asked to confirm ” THE BODY OF CHRIST”, then you respond “AMEN”, Amen means YES!, so if a Catholic that chooses not to believe in the real presence of Christ goes to communion why do they respond AMEN? Why would the priest say “THE BODY OF CHRIST” if it was not so.

Why has catechesis of the true presence of Christ declined? I don’t have the answer for you, I can only think of a few factors that may perpetuate the issue, one possibly being the continuation of the indult of Communion in the Hand, maybe priests are not preaching enough of how Jesus is present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, he wanted to let us know that we are all called to be saints and that certain saints only received communion maybe a total of 5 times in their life, if 5 times was enough for them to be saints then we must adhere to the churches instructions.

Once we have everyone believing in the truth of the presence of Christ in the Eucharist then the next problem I foresee is stopping the outrageous amount of sacrilege, Catholics whom use birth control, and that are not validly married seem to be the most common offender of this sacrilege, not to mention the scores of people that only attend confession once or twice a year when they are constantly living in a state of mortal sin. I am not here to judge, but I do feel called to protect Jesus in Most Holy Communion.

The wife and I are very close to completing our convalidation in the church, we have not been receiving communion for quite sometime, it has been somewhat of a penitential time preparing to re-enter a state of sanctifying grace, As I have been making my spiritual communion each week at Mass and as the time comes to re-enter this state of grace, after the convalidation is finalized and after a good heart felt confession, I truly feel as if I will be making my First Holy Communion for a second time. I’m not sure if I will be able to hold back the tears of joy.
